Basnet Attorneys & Law Attends Invest Bhutan Summit 2026

Basnet Attorneys & Law attended the Invest Bhutan Summit 2026, held on February 12–13, 2026, which brought together government officials, domestic entrepreneurs, and foreign investors to discuss investment opportunities across Bhutan.

The summit presented 26 curated projects seeking a combined capital investment of approximately Nu. 55 billion. More than 200 delegates participated, including 71 foreign investors representing 12 countries. The projects span sectors such as agriculture and forest-based industries, tourism, renewable energy, manufacturing, township development, and emerging technology initiatives including AI and robotics education.

Geographically, the proposed projects are distributed across western, central, and eastern Bhutan, including locations in Chhukha, Samtse, Thimphu, Pemagatshel, Samdrup Jongkhar, Dagana, Punakha, Trashiyangtse, Bumthang, and Paro. The distribution reflects an effort to align investment promotion with broader regional development objectives.

The summit was inaugurated by Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay, who reiterated Bhutan’s commitment to attracting responsible investment consistent with its development philosophy and renewable energy strengths. Presentations were also delivered by representatives of Druk Holding and Investments and Druk Green Power Corporation, outlining strategic infrastructure and energy-related opportunities.

In addition to project pitching sessions, the summit outlined follow-up mechanisms, including centralized tracking of investor interest and structured facilitation through relevant government agencies. Officials indicated that projects receiving credible investor engagement would undergo further financial and regulatory structuring to improve readiness for potential partnerships.

Basnet Attorneys & Law met with investors and talked on foreign direct investment processes, regulatory compliance requirements, and structuring considerations for cross-border investors. The firm continues to advise clients on investment entry, licensing, corporate structuring, and regulatory approvals within Bhutan’s evolving investment framework.
