Tashi Phuntsho Dorji

Tashi Phuntsho Dorji holds a PGDNL/LLB from the Jigme Singye Wangchuck School of Law (JSW Law). He is an Associate at Basnet Attorneys and Law, where he handles foreign direct investment, M&A, technology law, and Gelephu Mindfulness City advisory matters.

He brings a strong foundation in legal research, regulatory analysis, and dispute resolution, developed through rigorous academic training and hands-on practical experience. At Basnet Attorneys and Law, Tashi works on regulatory compliance research, contract review against Bhutanese statutory frameworks, and transactional advisory for corporate and cross-border clients, while also supporting arbitration matters on behalf of the firm's clients.

Tashi has previously interned with the Office of the Attorney General's Criminal & Integrity
Prosecution Division, the Royal Bhutan Police, and the Bhutan Alternative Dispute Resolution Centre, where he contributed to casework involving commercial fraud, narcotics trafficking, cryptocurrency-related offences, and money laundering. His hands-on experience includes drafting charge sheets, case briefs, legal opinions, and a bilingual English/Dzongkha court document drafting guide.

In the field of international arbitration, Tashi completed a virtual internship with the AIFC Court & International Arbitration Centre in Almaty, Kazakhstan, conducting comparative analysis of institutional arbitration rules across the AIFC Court, ICC, SIAC, and LCIA, and producing a reflective report linking international arbitration practice to Bhutan's Gelephu Mindfulness City development context. Through the JSW Law ADR Clinic, he has also contributed to mediation rules drafting for the Bhutan Alternative Dispute Resolution Centre.
